No. PTE Academic is a test of your English ability in academic settings. The test covers a range of subjects within the question content but you are not being tested on these subjects.
You do not need special computer skills to take PTE Academic.
PTE Academic is taken on a QWERTY keyboard. This is where the letters on the top line spell out ‘QWERTY’. If you are not used to this type of keyboard, it may help to practice with one before you take the test.
You can take it in any of Pearson’s test centres around the world.
There is no difference between the content and scoring of the two tests. However, if you are applying for a UK visa, you must sit PTE Academic UKVI, as it has slight differences in the test registration process to support your visa application. Only the UKVI version will provide a SELT Unique Reference Number (URN) which you will need for your visa application.
PTE tests are taken in highly secure test centres, so Pearson must verify the identity of all of the test takers.
When you arrive to take your test, you must provide an acceptable identification document (ID).
In most cases, this IS will be your passport. If you do not have a passport, you may be able to use an alternative depending on your chosen PTE test.
